An example of the type of retail business is the Laughing Giraffe, a spiritual store offering a variety of coffee, chocolate, ice cream, herbal salves and remedies, and books on healing ourselves, our land, and our planet. The Laughing Giraffe is a worker-owned and worker-managed cooperative business that meets the needs of all stakeholders for empowerment, choice, and ownership. It also takes advantage of the current cultural paradigm; that of consumerism. We put a very different spin on the concept and perhaps turn consumerism “on it’s head.”
